SAS Tip of the Month
September 2011
(for SAS and WPS)

A short, but useful, tip this month.

When SAS starts, either interactively or in batch, several files are accessed including the CONFIG and AUTOEXEC files. But how do you list what is run during initialization to your SAS LOG? The answer is the VERBOSE option, however the default is NOVERBOSE, so you have to manually set the setting. This option can diagnose SAS initialization issues or spot SAS options being changed from default values.

Hope this is useful. See you in October.
