SAS Tip of the Month
October 2012
(for SAS and WPS)

When I want to get a list of formats in a formats catalog, without the detail of each format, the PROC CATALOG procedure is useful. The following code will produce a list of formats that are in the FORMATS library:

   proc catalog c=library.formats;
      contents;
   run;

If you have your formats stored in a WORK directory, i.e. these are not permanently saved formats in a permanent FORMATS catalog, the code would look something like this:

   proc catalog c=formats;
      contents;
   run;

Hope this is useful. Have a safe and happy October.

See you next month.
